Honeywell Fisheries Limited engages itself in deep-sea bottom
trawling for shrimps in the Gulf of Guinea, in the East Central Atlantic,
which falls in FAO Zone 34.
The main catches are wild Ocean Black Tiger (Penaeus monodon), Southern
Pink Shrimp (Penaeus notialis) Guinea Shrimp (Parapenaeopsis atlantica)
and Deep water Rose Shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris).
We produce about 600 metric tons of these shrimps annually. 95% of
the catch is packed whole, fresh, frozen onboard and landed ready
to export at the end of each fishing cruise, which normally lasts
for 50 days.
In addition to the main catch of shrimps, we also have good quantities
of Atlantic swim Crab, (Portunus validus) and Cuttle fish (Sepia spp.)
as bye catches.
The crabs are packed and exported whole or as clusters (shoulders)
and claws. Cuttle fish also are exported whole, fresh, frozen.
All these catches are made all year long with no pronounced peak season.
The catches are made from the clean non-polluted territorial waters
generally at a depth of 25-30 meters. |
